Tsuruko Exhibition

This exhibition is held to commemorate the publication of the second edition of "Tsuruko," a photobook and seasonal chronicle of Yase, Kyoto, authored by the Kaiseki tea ceremony chef Tsuruko Hanzawa.

Over the course of a full year, the book captures the changing seasons of Yase—the shifting landscapes, a single morsel of food, a bowl of tea. Her gaze, overflowing with affection, is cast equally upon nature, plants, and the people passing by. The scenery and moments encountered here are a reflection of Tsuruko’s own unwavering way of life.

Tsuruko believes that when we share and layer the gentle vibrations within each of us, they coalesce into a great power—one that fills a space with "good energy" and allows a positive atmosphere to flow.

"No matter where I go, I simply want people to think, 'Ah, her tea is truly delicious.' I want to be able to whisk a bowl of tea like that. That is all there is to it."

The exhibition’s shitsurai (spatial arrangement) was created with the cooperation of Mitate, a Kyoto florist who provided the original inspiration for this photobook and worked alongside us to bring it to life. We hope that the time you spend in this space allows you a moment to reflect on daily life, nature, and the essence of soul.
